What a Morning!

Ack!! This morning was an organizational nightmare. I have to be at work for a meeting, meaning that I don't have Wednesday off and Dada has to take Monk to his doctor's appointment, which is all very well except that one of Monk's shoes decided that this would be a good time to disappear. Keep in mind that this is one shoe from his only pair! Yes, Dada did express amazement about the fact that a child of mine would have only one pair of shoes . . . But the fact is that we tried to buy him a second pair back in July. The salesperson at StrideRite actually refused to sell us any because she required empirical evidence that Monk was capable of walking--which he wasn't at the time--and we went away empty-handed. So we have one pair of Preschoolians shoes that is held together by extra (lint-covered) velcro strips because Monk's feet are so wide that the original straps wouldn't even close across his bulging instep. They don't look like much, but they have served us well until this morning.
In the middle of trying to pack Monk's lunch, feed him breakfast, write questions for the doctor and get ready for work, we had to crawl around on the living room floor searching for the phantom shoe. Finally, after about 20 minutes of panic, Dada realized that the shoe had been snagged in the undercarriage of Pooh truck during one of Monk's many circuits of the house this morning!! Thank goodness. Then I left for work, leaving behind my house keys, and taking the car keys that Dada needs to drive Monk to the doctor . . . Fortunately we have a spare set, but I hope that the day doesn't continue in this vein.
